This Week's Math Challenge

A paratrooper jumps out of an aircraft at 10,500 feet and free falls at 90 mph for one minute before opening her chute. Once his chute deploys, her fall rate slows to 1000 feet per minute. Use the following rates to find how long it takes the jumper to reach the ground.

1 mile = 5280 feet
1 hour = 60 minutes

Post your answer under the blog heading: Math Challenge. The first correct answer will be worth extra credit points if you can explain how you arrived at your solution.
